In Chinese culture, white is the color of death. Yet, with the worldwide acceptance of the white wedding gown, it is acceptable to choose the traditional western gown for the ceremony. The color red, symbolizing happiness, love and wealth, is incorporated into many aspects of the marriage celebration - invitations, flowers, favors, candles, centerpieces, linens and other forms of decor. In addition, at least one of the three traditional bridal gowns worn during the three stages of celebration - the ceremony, the tea, and the reception - is also red.
