Hispanic/Latino
Within both ethnic cultures, the groom presents his bride with the arras. The thirteen golden coins, symbolizing Jesus Christ and his twelve apostles, are the groom's promise to support and care for his wife. The coins may be presented to the bride by the groom before the ceremony and blessed during, or brought to the groom by a parent or Godparent during the ceremony for presentation to the bride.

A large rosary called a lasso may also play a significant roll. Wrapped in a figure eight around the couple's shoulders and hands during the ceremony, the lasso is a sign of protection over the bond of marriage and the union which has taken place.
